May 14, 2007 - Three Frustrating Days...
Grrrr! The past few days have been some of the most frustrating in recent memory.
I began Saturday morning by checking my infosystemspro.com email at around 5:30 AM only to get a "Server not found" error. Some quick tests showed that not only the email server was off-line, but the web server as well.
I immediately went to my desk and initiated an online chat session with my hosting company's tech support group. I was told that they were in the process of migrating to new servers and that everything should be back to normal (but "better!") within a few hours. I was pissed (why wasn't I notified in advance?) but relieved to know that the situation was under control. Little did I know...
As it turned out, my site was not back online until late Saturday and not fully restored until Monday morning. The pages which were copied over to the new server by the hosting company were several days old and did not incorporate recent changes, leading to a number of very confused customers. Adding insult to injury, the mail server was not back online until Monday morning.
What a mess.
