Limits and Fits in Accordance with ISO 286-1:1988 and ISO 286-2:1988 |

ISOFits calculates and displays limits and fits for
shaft / hole combinations in accordance with the
standards set forth in ISO 286-1:1988 and ISO
286-2:1988. Analyze known fits (what are the
parameters of a 12 H5/d3 fit?), synthesize (find) the
best possible fits given minimal input (I need a 25,4 mm
basic size, shaft-basis, interference fit, with -25 um
to -45 um clearance), view the three primary ISO 286
tables (standard IT tolerance, shaft and hole
deviations), even scroll through a series of fits
customized per your design rules.
Use this application with any PalmOS (v3.5 or above)
device; newer/faster models suggested. Includes
optimized graphics for PalmOS 5 (hi-res) devices and 30
pre-set color schemes for color-capable devices.

on Windows Mobile devices in conjunction with the
StyleTap® Platform.

Questions page
for more info. |
| >> The data input for a Fit
Analysis is as simple as can be: use the pop-up keyboard
to enter the basic size and the pop-up lists to choose
the tolerance grade and deviation for hole and shaft. |

|
  |
<< Tap the [Analyze]
button and in just seconds the parameters of the fit are
shown. Tap the [Graph] button to see a graphic
representation of the fit as well! |
|
>> Entries in ISOFits are made easier by
the pop-up keyboard which appears whenever numeric entry
is required. The smart keyboard even helps you
avoid wasted time by disallowing many types of invalid
entries! |
 |
  |
<< Create
your own customized lists of recommended / preferred
fits based on your company policy, design goals, and
available manufacturing techniques. |
>> Then, use the Recommended Fits module to view
them! Enter the basic size and choose the fit type
(Clearance, Interference, or Transition) and basis
(Hole-basis or Shaft-basis) from the pop-up lists and
tap the [Show Fits] button. Use the [Next] and [Prev]
buttons to scroll through the fits previously set up in
the Table Editor (ISOFits comes preloaded with more than
60 generally recommended fits).
>>
Notice those [Worst Case] and [99.73% Prob] buttons?
The Worst Case (shown) gives the parameters for the fit
presuming that all features are at the MMC/LMC limits
allowed by the standard. The 99.73% Prob(ability)
button changes the displayed data to show the likely
dimensions of 99.73% of the parts in a production lot
with a normal distribution or, a Cpk of 1.0.

<< Possibly ISOFits' most important
function, the Fit Synthesis module takes minimum input
to produce maximum output! Enter a basic size, choose a
fit basis, and enter the maximum and minimum "clearance"
(positive values for clearance, negative values for
interference). |
| >> Tap the [Analyze] button and ISOFits
examines as many as 11,200 fit combinations, then
chooses the best ones (you decide how many "best fits"
to show, from 2 to 12) and displays them using the same
[Next] - [Prev] system as the Recommended Fits module,
above. |
 |
 |
<< ISOFits includes a table viewer that
allows you to scroll through the three primary tables of
the ISO 286 standard, the Standard IT Tolerance table,
the Hole Deviations table, and the Shaft Deviations
table.
Use the scrollbars or the
Up/Down/Left/Right hardware buttons to move through the
tables, or go instantly to any location in a table using
the pop-up lists and then tapping the [Jump] button.
|
| >> ISOFits includes an Export to Memo
function which allows you to make a permanent copy of
your handiwork in the form of a Palm Memo entry and
store it or print it from the Palm Desktop application. |
