Welcome to Geo-Matic for the Palm! ---------------------------------- Whether you are just trying or buying, I thank you for the opportunity to show you what Geo-Matic can do and how it can make your PDA more useful and your life easier. Geo-Matic is available as a number of individual modules which will ultimately include Geo-Matic Bolt Circles, Geo-Matic Triangles, Geo-Matic Polygons, Geo-Matic Circles & Rings, Geo-Matic Rectangles & Parallelograms, and others yet to be finalized. I firmly believe that any PDA application should be easy to use and sport an intuitive interface. If you can't use Geo-Matic for the Palm "right out of the box" without first reading an extensive manual, then I haven't fulfilled that promise. I ask only that you take a few moments to read these eight basic points as well as the End USer License Agreement below and then see what Geo-Matic for the Palm can do for you. 1) When viewing the startup "About" screen, tap anywhere above the "Show this screen at startup" text to proceed. 2) Please be sure to check out the user preferences settings (tap Menu -> Options -> Preferences or /R). 3) Note that the results of any calculation can be copied to the PDA's "Memopad" application by tapping Menu -> Edit -> Copy to Memo (or /M). 4) Within each Geo-Matic module, the top of the screen has two to four buttons which are used to select a subcategory of the main screen object, "Simple" or "Angular Sets" are two different types of Bolt Circles currently supported by Geo-Matic Bolt Circles, for example. 5) The bottom left of each screen may contain either or both of two context-sensitive buttons. The first (on the far left) cycles data entry and display between "Diameter" and "Radius" mode for the appropriate fields. The second (left center) toggles between Degrees, Degrees-Minutes-Seconds, Radians, and Gradians modes for entry and display of angular values. In both cases, tapping the buttons will not only change the default entry mode for new entries, but will also convert on the fly any existing values already showing in the related fields. 6) Geo-Matic for the Palm is an incredibly powerful calculating tool. Give it whatever data you have for a supported object and let it find the rest! In Geo-Matic Triangles, for example, enter any of nineteen combinations of three values and tap the "Calculate" button. In seconds, Geo-Matic displays all six primary features (3 angles and 3 sides) as well as 15 more secondary features for the given triangle. 7) Degree-Minute-Second data entry needs to follow a few specific rules. For details, tap Menu -> Options -> General Help (or /H) and select the "DMS data entry" topic. 8) Tap the "+" sign at the bottom-right corner of the image area to view an enlarged image. 9) Feel free to contact me via email (support@infosystemspro.com) at any time if you have questions or comments! Installation ------------ All Geo-Matic For The Palm files are packaged as a zip or a sit file containing the application .prc file, this readme.txt file, and a copy of MathLib.prc - a shared library file commonly used by Palm applications which require higher math functions. Typical installation is as simple as double-clicking the application .prc file (Geo-Matic Bolt Circles.prc, Geo-Matic Triangles.prc, etc) and HotSyncing. If you do not already have MathLib.prc installed on your PDA, please install it in the same manner. END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR SOFTWARE --------------------------------------- Important - read carefully: This End-User License Agreement ("EULA") is a legal agreement between you (either an individual or a single entity) and Carmine Castiglia and his assigns ("THE DEVELOPER") for the software product(s) generally known as "Geo-Matic For The Palm" including all associated modules (Geo-Matic Bolt Circles, Geo-Matic Triangles, Geo-Matic Polygons, Geo-Matic Circles & Rings, Geo-Matic Rectangles & Parallelograms, etc), which includes PalmOS software and may include associated media, printed materials, and "online" or electronic documentation ("SOFTWARE PRODUCT"). By installing, copying, or otherwise using the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, you agree to be bound by the terms of this EULA. If you do not agree to the terms of this EULA, do not install or use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. 1. GRANT OF LICENSE. This EULA grants you the following rights: Software - You may install and use one copy of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT on a single Palm based PDA or other digital electronic device based on Palm OS ("COMPUTER"). If multiple licenses have been purchased, you may install and use the software portion of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT on the same number of COMPUTERS as licenses purchased. Backup Copy - You may make a single backup copy of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. You may use the backup copy solely for archival purposes. 2. DESCRIPTION OF OTHER RIGHTS AND LIMITATIONS. Limitations on Reverse Engineering, Decompilation, and Disassembly - You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. Separation of Components - With the exception of publically available "shared library" code which may have been included with the installation package, The SOFTWARE PRODUCT is licensed as a single product. Its component parts may not be separated for use on more than one computer. Single COMPUTER - The SOFTWARE PRODUCT is licensed with the COMPUTER or to a SITE as a single integrated product. Unless a Site License is purchased, the SOFTWARE PRODUCT may only be used with the COMPUTER. Beta Software - If THE SOFTWARE has been provided to you in a beta version (identified by a 'b' appended to the software version number) for testing and/or developmental assistance, you agree that you will: a) make reasonable effort to assist THE DEVELOPER by testing the software functionality, usability, and accuracy and report results to THE DEVELOPER in a timely manner. b) not disseminate THE SOFTWARE to any other party without THE DEVELOPER's prior authorization c) not discuss THE SOFTWARE in a public forum ("the Internet", "Newsgroup", "chat room", etc) except in general terms. In no event will you make public disparaging or negative comments concerning THE SOFTWARE. Rental - You may not rent or lease the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. Software Transfer - You may not transfer your rights under this EULA. Termination - Without prejudice to any other rights, THE DEVELOPER may terminate this EULA if you fail to comply with the terms and conditions of this EULA. In such event, you must destroy all copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT and all of its component parts. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY NO WARRANTIES - THE DEVELOPER disclaims any warranty for the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. The SOFTWARE PRODUCT and any related documentation is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including, without limitation, the implied warranties or merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or noninfringement. The entire risk arising out of use or performance of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT remains with you. NO LIABILITY FOR DAMAGES - In no event shall THE DEVELOPER be liable for any damages whatsoever (including, without limitation, damages for loss of business profits, business interruption, loss of business information, or any other pecuniary loss) arising out of the use of or inability to use this product, even if THE DEVELOPER has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
